Protection against harmful noise immission ...

... is mostly governed by the german federal immission protection law (BImSchG) with regulations for different groups of sources of noise, e. g.

  • technical instructions for the protection against noise – TA Lärm (for commercial plants)
  • traffic noise protection regulation – 16th BImSchV (for roads and railways)
  • sports facilities noise protection regulation – 18th BImSchV
  • equipment and machinery noise protection regulation – 32nd BImSchV.

Explicitly exempted in BImSchG are airports. Air traffic noise is primarily but not comprehensively regulated in the air traffic noise law and its instructions on calculations. But how to deal with and evaluate the ground noise from taxiing aircraft, jet trials etc.?

And how to adequately assess, for example, noise immissions from beer gardens which are also exempted in TA Lärm?

The expert attribution of noise issues to the existing regulations and the consideration of new developments, especially in the course of the harmonization of European regulations and standards form important fundamentals of the

main tasks of the department "Noise immissions":

  • determination and assessment of noise by measurement and/or calculation
  • sound consulting as well as design of specific noise reduction measures
