Various methods can be implemented to reduce high vibration levels. The basic vibration reduction measures available when the magnitude of the cause of the vibration cannot be reduced are isolation, damping and absorption. The design and use of a newly developed, damped, three-dimensional vibration absorption system for vibration are illustrated. A case study in natural gas compressor plant that involves pipeline vibrations is described. The theoretical background of vibration absorbers is reviewed.
